A monumental pair of George III style carved American limestone pineapple finials on bases, circa 1890’s. George III was an active and passionate gardener responsible for the construction of Pinery in the greenhouse at Windsor Castle. During his reign, pineapples became the symbol of a sophisticated pallet and were incorporated into architectural decoration, interiors, and greenhouses.
