A very good pair of early 19th-century Directoire garden chimeras in the likeness of the 18th-century court mistress, Madame de Pompadour.
Madame de Pompadour is depicted here on the robed body of a chimeras. Sculpted in beautiful French terra cotta and perched on freestanding painted wood bases. These chimeras are an interpretation of those placed in the garden of the Castle of Ménars. Both in great antique condition.
