This stripped pine pulpit is a remarkable example of a secondary pulpit known as an Ambo, where scripture was read instead of delivering the sermon. The sermon would typically be given from a more formal lectern. This early piece is in very good antique condition, exhibiting wear that is consistent with its age and use. The floorboards have a slight give to accommodate for the impassioned delivery of speeches.
